Government Programs: Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) Files

Feb. 28, 2017

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) Medicare Advantage plan providers who are enrolled to receive ERA's (835's) may be missing ERA files from December 1, 2016 to December 30, 2016.

This applies to the following products:

  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO)SM (MA PPO)
  • Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (HMO)SM (MA HMO)

BCBSMT is in the process of correcting this issue and a resolution is scheduled to be completed by mid-March 2017 to help ensure that impacted providers continue receiving future ERA files for auto-posting of payments. In the interim, for applying payments, impacted providers may refer to their paper Provider Claim Summaries (PCSs), which are sent by regular mail for government programs claims.

More information regarding your 835 delivery may be obtained from your designated clearinghouse or vendor. Government program providers enrolled for ERA will also receive paper Provider Claim Summaries (PCS) mailings. If you are impacted by this issue, refer to the paper PCS for applying payments, until this is resolved. Please note that, ERA files cannot be reloaded for Medicare Advantage claims.

*The above notice applies to BCBSMT providers contracted with Government Programs only.

Non-contracted Government program providers servicing the above referenced member product types, with the addition of Montana HELP Plan members, must refer to their mailed paper check and PCS for payment information, even if they are enrolled to receive the ERA and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from BCBSMT.

We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for this inconvenience.
